Muar Food Trip 2012 [Day 3]

Looking through my pending blogposts list, I just realised that I haven't blog about the last day of my Muar Food Trip. So here goes!

Woke up pretty earlier that day and after packing all of stuff, we headed out for breakfast! Yes, we had Hainanese chicken rice balls again but this time it's way better than the one we had on the second day. Lucky us, it was not closed!
60 cents per ball HAHA that doesn't sound right :P
Super smooth and tender chicken SLURPSSS
Half a chicken for the 7 of us.

And how can we not have otak-otak! ♥♥♥
Good chicken rice must come with a good chilli sauce too, y' know? This one was quite good (Y)

It turned out to be quite a weird but perfect combination; otak otak with chicken rice balls YUMMMMMMMS mou tak teng!

Jit Fah Chicken Rice Ball 日发鸡饭粒

They used to be at Jalan Sisi but they have now shifted to this new shoplot located along Jalan Meriam, opposite the Hindu Temple .

Nattukottai Chettiars' Sri Murugan Temple; the oldest Hindu temple in Muar town.
Loving the weather that day :}

After breakfast, we went to this famous local confectionery shop at Jalan Sayang to get some buah tangan to bring back .

As usual, they sell delicacies and snacks that are manufactured locally such as Tao Sah Peah (Red Bean Paste Biscuit), Heong Peah, mooncakes and chinese cookies.

Yong Sheng Confectioneries and Food Gift Shop
Available at two branches: (30, Jalan Sayang, Muar) Tel: +606-952 1362
(Lot. 1965, Batu 3 ½, Simpang Jeram, Jalan Bakri, Muar) Tel: +606-986 3362

Kai Zai Peng! (read: Chicks' Biscuits) which explains the chicks on the packaging HAHAHA how cute right It's savoury-sweet chicken biscuits that actually originates from Ipoh. Ehem correct me if I'm wrong :P This one actually tasted not bad, crunchy and sweet yummms 4 packets for RM10!
...and some other stuff that we bought (:

Then it's time to bid Muar farewell and head back to KL but before that, we made a detour to....
MALACCA! \( ̄︶ ̄)/
for the sake of Nadeje muehehe cause we are awesome like that can HEH
We went to their new branch at Bangunan Jaya 99 and since it was quite early, we had to wait cause it was not even open for business yet! HAHA jakun max.

Everyone looking so worn out after the 3 days trip :P

We ordered the original (MUSTT!!), rum and raisin and mocha flavour. Somehow the quality deteriorates T__T and I guess the rum and raisin one was kept overnight cause the texture was completely meh.

Their colourful mocktail (obviously I forgot the name :P) and Orange Yakult. The one on the right is Korean Yuzu Tea.

Durex Campus Roadshow @ UCSI

Earlier this month, Durex Campus Roadshow was at UCSI University to continue its burden in empowering students where their main objective is to create awareness on STD and spread the words among youths especially college and university students. Besides, students are encouraged to join the Rap against STD movement that aims to create the longest video of STD awareness in the Guinness Book of Records. The event was held at the student lounge near the cafeteria from 10am – 5pm, and it managed to attract many students to join the event.
The ambassador approached students and invite them to join the movement and explained to them what is STD. Of course there were informational walls filled with posters and mini games as well.

Students are asked to LIKE the Durex Malaysia FB page & filled in their details. They also had to fill up the talent release form as a consent that allow them to be recorded and to use the video advertising / educational purpose in the future (:

Even the international students were enthusiastic and hyped when they visited the booth during the roadshow :D They were very happy to be a part of the movement.

After having in mind on what they wanna rap or sing, now this is the fun part! Video recording time with Feeq from Creative Visual Studio :DDD There were props provided as well like the one the girl is holding, caps and wigs, how fun! You can even put on your own shades and go yo whasssssup y'alls B)

After the video recording session, the students filled up a survey form and each participants was given a goody bag as a token of appreciation in joining the movement.

Besides having roadshows at universities, Durex even had a booth during #Churpout2012 few weeks back. So if you've missed the chance to take part in the moment at any of the roadshows, fret not! You can just submit your video online by referring to my previous post HERE. You can also check out Rap against STD apps on Durex Malaysia Fanpage in case you need some reference or inspiration :P on how and what to rap and stuff. It's open for everyone and like I said, you don't have to be a professional to join the fun and plus it can even be a few secs video.

Currently, the total running time for the videos is 2039 secs and still counting. What are you waiting for? Be a part of this good cause in educating our next generation!

Spread the words, but not the disease. Peace out y'all *acting all gangsta*

Veet; Every Girl's Best Friend!

Know those days you feel unbeatable? Those are the days where your confidence gives you a glow that others are drawn to. I guess every girl out there would love to feel confident about themselves. Looking fantastic would usually makes you feel super-confident and while hair and makeup helps, it’s the soft, smooth, radiant skin that really completes the look. Wonder how? Veet is the answer!

Veet; no longer a strange term in the ladies' dictionary cause it's the world's number 1 depilatory products. Since I'm a student, I couldn't afford regular waxing session at the saloon (IPL is not even an option T__T), so home remedy is definitely the best choice for me! I myself have been a satisfied user of Veet for years and I still am because Veet gives me soft and smooth skin that brings out the confidence in me.
I've tried most of their products; be it cream or wax but my favourite has got to be the Veet hair removal cream cause it's painless, hassle-free, convenient (speaking of emergency!) and easy to use. It still  keeps my skin smooth after using it and what's even better? It's long lasting!
With Veet, I no longer have cuts, ugly looking stubs, coarser hair or even worse dark armpits; every girls' nightmare - usual aftermath of shaving. *proudly raising both hands to show off my armpits* HAHA But it doesn't just apply to my armpits, it works wonder in getting rid of unwanted hairs on my limbs and body as well.  〜(^∇^〜)(〜^∇^)〜 Thus, I can wear sleeveless tops, tank tops or shorts anytime and anywhere since it's forever so sunny in Malaysia. I don't think I can ever survive covering myself all up like an Eskimo here. By wearing anything I'm comfortable in, naturally I'll have the self-confidence that comes from within. It doesn't mean I need to dress up sexy to feel confident but it's the other way round. Having smoother and softer skin makes me less embarrassed to flaunt my skin. Likewise, I don't have to worry getting weird stares from public as if I'm some ugly hairy creature (╯。╰)  No doubt, no one likes being hairy.  So I guess Veet deserve to be every girl's best friend because with Veet, you can feel confident in no time *winks*

Check out my Veet-It-Off DIY outfit that I've revamped!
It's an oversized top that I've only worn once cause it's two size bigger than my usual size -__- And it's kinda plain so I decided to give it a vava-voom!

I tried tie-ing it up first and came up with these two different styles;
Hmmm, so what say you? *shake heads* I find them a tad too common and simple. Don't you think? So I decided to be audacious and come up with something bold and unique! *grabs a pair of scissor*

Now now, ready to see the revamped version 2.0 of my top?

Wait ............

For ....

It...

and VOILA! I present you my masterpiece #successkid.jpg
Since I have a big tummy, so I was thinking why not reveal my sexyback instead? Since it's flat :P

Instead of the usual cut out top, I decided to try out this cute bow back top, a top which I can wear for a casual day out or even for a day at the beach ( ´ ▽ `)
A better close up of the bow-back top! And guess what, no sewing is required!
Do let me know if you want a tutorial of it HEHE #buaypaiseh
I even trimmed off few inches of the front part of the top to make it asymmetrical (one of the latest trends ehemm) and I paired it with a high waist short instead of a jeans for my after-look just cause I can flaunt my smooth legs too!
So what do you think? (;

Last but not least, check out these videos brought to you by Veet

With Veet, you can now say goodbye to hairy problems \( ̄︶ ̄)/ Once again, thanks Veet for unleashing the confidence in me ❤

Restoran Fu Kua @ Taman Sea

Anyone here fans of bittergourd? Definitely not me. As you can see from my post title, Fu Kua means bittergourd in Cantonese so yeah expect a bitter post ahead. Heh, just kidding. We all know that bittergourd has tons of health and nutritional benefits (it can even cure hangover!) which is why the older adults would always encourage us to take bittergourd. My mum once said to me, "If you can't even take bittergourd, you can never endure the bitterness of life". Well said, Mum. I will only eat it if it's less bitter (5 slices max) but how on earth can bittergourd be not bitter so yeah if you get what I mean #factsaboutme ( ̄ー ̄) I guess bittergourd will forever remain in the list of my least favourite vegetables.

Unlike me, most of my friends eat and actually like bittergourd (so I'm the weird one) so Sie Yii decided to bring us to this famous bittergourd restaurant in Taman Sea for lunch back in August. Yeah, two months back IKR but better late than nothing *wink* Alright, back to the bittergourd restaurant.
A huge menu hung on the wall.

Simple interior of the restaurant. I wonder why is it painted with yellow instead of green.

Front page of the menu with few of their signature dishes I supposed.
Even the drinks and some of the desserts are made from bittergourd! Fresh orange bitter gourd is definitely recommended, most of my friends liked it.
And yes, that's how their menu looks like, just plain words with no description. No photos whatsoever and there's like at least 10 pages filled with Chinese and English translation. It can be really difficult to decide what to eat cause there is just plenty of choices to choose from! And on a bright side, they do have several  dishes that don't serve bittergourd, YAY for me!
Framed newspaper cuttings hanging on the wall.

More on the other side of the wall, impressive huh?

Japnese tofu with minced meat that got to be my favouriteee :9 Love the gravy, goes well with the rice.

Ham Yu Fa Lam Pou (reads: Salted Fish Pork Belly in Claypot), one of the must order dish whenever I'm dining in a Chinese restaurant. They gave quite a generous amount of pork belly. Sinful yet irresistible!

Potato leaves with belacan, the belacan tasted funny and it's too spicy to my liking.

Fried chicken and bittergourd coated with salted eggs. The chicken were perfectly fried till golden brown, with a flaky-crisp crust and juicy tender meat YUMS I'm giving this dish two thumbs up (Y)(Y) Definitely recommending this dish!

Stir fried bitter gourd with salted eggs. Nothing much, just that it's a tad too dry.

Overall, it was quite a decent and satisfying meal for the four of us. Price wise, it's reasonable and somewhat similar to dining at any average Chinese restaurants I suppose, less than RM20 per pax inclusive of drinks. We went back there again a week later for another round of lunch, trying out other dishes but I didn't bring along my camera the other day, too bad. I'm definitely seeing us going back there again once in a while cause it's worth visiting especially for bittergourd lovers. I'm pretty sure your parents or older adults would enjoy dining here as well :D
The place is always packed during lunch time and dinner, so we would usually drop by before lunchtime to avoid the crowd.

Why not try it out yourself? Go and indulge in a bitter hearty meal filled with bittergourd goodness at Fu Kua Restaurant with your friends and family (:

Durex Rap against STD

Somehow I think it's still like a taboo to talk about sex in our society or even between the younger and older generation. It's a subject that no one will find it comfortable to openly discuss about it. So naturally, when it comes to Durex, a lot of people will think about sex. This campaign is not about encouraging people to have sex by highlighting the need to have safe sex but it's about creating the awareness of STD. Of course we cannot stop people from having sex but we can stop STD from being spread in delivering the message across the nation especially among the youth. Like the saying goes; prevention is better than cure! If you are given a chance to speak out and make a difference even though it's just baby steps, you should be proud of yourself.
Most of these diseases are treatable, and many are curable – early detection and prevention is equally important.
Do you know?
  • 6.5% of Malaysian teenagers were sexually active in 2010 compared with 2.2% in 2004.
  • Adolescents' knowledge on reproductive health and sexually transmitted diseases are generally low, at between 47% and 59%.
Thus, it is crucial for us to bring the attention of how dangerous STD can be and spread the awareness. We also have to think the consequences of having unprotected sex. STDs can increase the risk of HIV infection, infertility and cancer. Stigma, inconsistent or incorrect condom use, access to health care contributes to high rates of infections among teens and young adults.

Therefore Durex create this interesting Rap against STD campaign and it is now available at  Durex FB page app to promote the awareness against STD to get your attention! Now everyone can rap yo 8)
Be a part of the movement, join us to spread the danger and awareness of STD and to create the longest collective rap video possible!

~*~
 Alright, I know I can't rap, in fact it's my first time rapping and being recorded *hides self* So don't burst out laughing at me okay? I know you just did in front of your laptop! ಠ_ಠ You can check out some other celebrities and bloggers that have joined this cool Rap against STD campaign on Youtube too! (;

All you have to do is just rap, just that easy! You don't have to be as awesome as Nicki Minaj or Kanye West to rap, you can just rap your own style :D and it could be just a 15 secs rap like how I did it. You can come out with your own lyrics (highly encouraged but they do have reference lyrics as well) as long as it's related to our awareness campaign and you know what? Your rap can even be in English, Malay or Chinese or even your own dialects! 1Malaysia spirit, y'know? Anyways, if you're too shy to rap alone you can drag along your friends and rap in a group. No problemo! What are you waiting for? Put on your cool shades, start letting your creative juice flows and rap it out! Don't be shy! I know that doesn't sound convincing but yeah just enjoy and have some fun, it's for a good cause after all :D

Before I forget, feel free to drop by at the Durex Campus Roadshow that will be happening at KTAR on the 19th of Oct.

For more details, head to Durex FB page.
Remember, you can make a difference.
